Advanced Chess Incremental Strategies
What to do after Prestige 1, how to pace multiple layers, and when to skip chasing Top.
Prestige 1 is the gate that teaches you the loop. Layer 2 is where the game stops being a tutorial and starts being a puzzle. This page is for players who have already reached 100K Chess, rebuilt ChessSpeed once, and want to know what actually changes after the first reset. If you have not prestiged yet, read prestige first.
What Prestige 1 actually unlocks
The store page promises multiple prestige layers and new content after each reset. After your first reset you should see new upgrade boards, new currency types, or multiplier chains that were not visible in layer 1. The exact unlock varies by what 3Face has published since launch. Treat layer 2 as a new first hour: confirm what changed before you spend anything.
The prestige tier list grades whether to rush layer 2 immediately or rebuild your engine first. The default should be: rebuild ChessSpeed to a comfortable level, confirm the new boards, then decide whether to push or farm.
The multi-layer pacing question
The most common mistake after Prestige 1 is treating layer 2 as a race. Players who rushed to Prestige 2 on the same night reported feeling empty because they reset an engine they had not measured. The healthier pattern is:
- Rebuild ChessSpeed to at least the level you had before the reset.
- Read the new boards — do not BUY MAX on a card you have not measured.
- Farm enough Chess to afford one meaningful level on the new system.
- Only then consider a second prestige.
The prestige checklist does not change after layer 1. The boxes are the same: live place, codes, Like/Favorite, ChessSpeed, potions if you are sitting, then reset. The only difference is the target number may be higher.
Rune optimization after multiple prestiges
Early game you rolled runes when potions were free from a code. After Prestige 1, rune efficiency compounds. The rune tier list grades Luck, Speed, and Bulk for a reason: Bulk without Luck is noise, Speed without presence is waste, and Luck alone is the baseline.
The optimal late-game potion stack is: drink Luck first, then Speed if you can stay 15 minutes, then Bulk only if you have all three running. Tickets become more valuable after the first prestige because the shop starts stocking higher-tier passes. Spend Tickets on Luck if you can only afford one bottle.
Late-game upgrade decisions
The upgrade tier list still applies. ChessSpeed is S-tier in every layer. The question is whether a new board that unlocks after Prestige 1 belongs in A-tier or C-tier for your current stack. The answer is always: measure before you grade.
If a new board shows a Chess-from-moves multiplier, it is probably an A-tier engine. If it shows a cosmetic stat or a crown multiplier, it is probably C-tier until you have already filled the ChessSpeed bar. The upgrade wall grows complexity but not urgency. The 100K bar was the first test. The second bar is taller.
When to ignore leaderboards
Leaderboards exist on the right wall throughout every layer. After Prestige 1 they become more tempting because decorated avatars start appearing at the top. Resist the urge to measure your progress against their screenshots.
Independent progress means their Top standing does not affect your Chess. Their prestige count does not raise your gate. If you are at 2K Chess on layer 2 and Top shows a Prestige 4 player, that player did not get there by chasing Top. They got there by following the loop: rebuild, measure, push, reset.
The role of codes at higher layers
Codes matter more, not less, as you climb prestige layers. Each reset can change which upgrade boards appear and how much they cost. A fresh pile of Tickets from 500ccu or 100KVisits lets you sample new shop passes without spending Robux. The code tracker still wants you to redeem largest-first: 100KVisits, then 500ccu, then RELEASE and Frog.
After a patch, updates and rebalance notes should be your first stop before you spend any accumulated Tickets on a shop that may have changed prices.
Common advanced mistakes
Rushing Prestige 2 without rebuilding ChessSpeed. You reset your engine. Resetting again before it is rebuilt is a doublepenalty.
Drinking potions at low Chess. Luck potions improve roll quality, not Chess income. If you are on layer 2 and still buying your first ChessSpeed levels, potions are a waste.
Ignoring the testing place warning. The 3Face testing place still does not reflect the live economy after any patch. If you are validating new boards, validate on the live place.
Trusting a script after a rebalance. Scripts compiled before a patch can mis-click new shop panels or prestige at the wrong count. See scripts safety.
Measuring progress against Top instead of the header. The header is always right. Top is a snapshot from a different server.
Session template for layer 2
Twenty minutes: codes, Like/Favorite, confirm ChessSpeed is back online. Measure new boards by reading headers, not by BUY MAX. If a new board talks about Chess-from-moves, it is an engine candidate. If it talks about crowns or cosmetics, it is C-tier. Farm enough to buy one level on the engine candidate. Only consider another prestige when the next bar is clearly in reach and you have already bought one meaningful upgrade on the new layer.
The loop does not get shorter after Prestige 1. It just gets a new wall.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Chess Incremental on Roblox.
What actually changes after Prestige 1?
New upgrade boards or multipliers appear. The exact content depends on 3Face's post-launch releases. Rebuild ChessSpeed first, then measure the new layer.
Should I rush Prestige 2 immediately?
No. Rebuild ChessSpeed to your previous level, measure the new boards, and farm enough to buy one meaningful upgrade first. See the prestige tier list.
Do potions work differently at higher layers?
The potion types are the same. They become more valuable because Tickets buy higher-tier passes. Luck is still S-tier during a roll.
When do I stop caring about Top?
Always. Top is a snapshot, not a progress metric. See leaderboards.
Do codes matter more after Prestige 1?
Yes. Fresh Tickets let you sample new shop passes after a reset. Redeem largest-first per the code tracker.
Should I use a script to auto-prestige?
No. Scripts can prestige at the wrong count after a patch. See scripts safety.
